ISAAC LEABO  (1805-1871)

5th GENERATION:   Isaac Leabo was born about 1805 in Grainger County, Tennessee.  His parents were Daniel & Barbara Leabo who have, by this time, moved from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia to East Tennessee.   The family moved to Jellico Creek in Whitley Co., Kentucky by 1810 where Isaac married Catherine Elizabeth Wilson by 1825.  Their first child, Jeremiah W. Leabo was born there in August of 1826. 

 

Before 1830, Isaac moved his young family to Ray County, Missouri along with his father and several brothers.  Isaac, shown as 'Lebo' is found there on the 1830 U.S. Census in Ray county along with Catherine (shown as 15-19 but more likely about 22-23) & Jeremiah (under 5)    ..........Click on the PDF below to see the 1830 Census page for Isaac Leabo, page 392; NARA Roll M19-73; Ancestry.com

Isaac bought 80 acres under the Provision of Sale of Public Lands in the W half of the SE quarter of Section 17 in Township 53 of Range 27 in the District of Lands subject to sale at Lexington, MO. o n 5 Dec 1833.  The deed indicates full payment but does not say how much he paid for it but indicates authorization by President Andrew Jackson.  Click on the PDF below to see this 1833 deed acquired from the Ray County Register of Deeds.

On 6 Nov 1835, Isaac Leabo bought another forty acres in the Sale of Public Lands in the NW quarter of the SW quarter of Section 22 in Township 54 in Range 28 of the District of Lexington, MO.
