4th GENERATION: Daniel Leabo was born about 1775 in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. He married Barbara (unknown) by 1804 and their first child, Isaac Leabo, was born in Grainger Co., Tennessee about 1805. Barbara was born aabout 1784 in Virginia. Daniel, Barbara and most of their children moved to Jellico Creek, Kentucky by about 1812 and to Ray Co., Missouri by 1829.
A book, "Tennesseans in the War of 1812" indicates a Pvt. Daniel Lebo served with Capt. Sol Dobkins' company in the E. TN Militia commanded by Col. Samuel Bunch, but also states that he deserted 4 Mar 1814. Ironically, another entry lists a Pvt. Daniel Lebow who served in Capt. John Houk's company of the E. TN Militia commanded by Col. Samuel Bunch, and indicates that he joined from Capt. Dobkins' company. We probably should assume that he merely transferred as he was still under the same colonel.
Records also indicate that Daniel's brother, Isaac, served in the 2nd Regt. Infantry. Another Lebow, Pvt. Joseph Lebow, served in Capt. Jas Cumming's company of the E. TN Volunteer Mounted Infantry undere Col. Samuel Bunch, as well.
Daniel apparently moved to Whitley Co., Kentucky at Jellico Creek sometime after his service in the War of 1812. They were joined there by an Isaac Leabo, probably Daniel's father and his familly. The U.S. Census of 1820 in Whitley Co., KY lists Daniel as a male 36-45 along with a female 26-45 (Barbara), a female 10-16 (Isabella), a male 10-16 (Isaac), 2 females under 10 (Elizabeth & Sarah), 2 males under 10 (Samuel & Jacob). Apparently Daniel & Susan had not been born yet. They remained there until about 1830 when they followed Daniel & his sons to Ray County, Missouri.
It is thought that Daniel died in November 1841, but certainly by 1848 in Ray Co., Missouri, as land records show his wife, Barbara, and the seven children listed, jointly selling a parcel of land to one of the Rainwater brothers. Barbara died about 1855 in Ray Co., Missouri as well.
